Saddlebrooke is one of the biggest active adult communities in Southern Arizona. It's been voted as one of the best places to retire by "Where to Retire" magazine, and it's Mountain View Clubhouse was recently awarded the designation of number one clubhouse for active adults in the nation by the National Association of Homebuilders. Choose from dance, theatre, swimming, and walking groups, religious organizations and service groups. It even has it's own insert in the Arizona Daily Star that covers all the activities going on in SaddleBrooke--Saddlebag Notes!
The development also provides amenities for its residents you normally wouldn't find in a community this size, including its own sports club, restaurant, eight tennis courts, two country clubs, golf course, and even a performing arts center. The in-neighborhood shopping center also offers every service from banking to physical therapy, with even more offered off-site along with proximity to six major hospitals.
Residents are also close to such state attractions as Mount Lemmon, Catalina State Park, Biosphere 2, Saguaro National Park West and of course, all that Tucson has to offer. It's proximity to Oro Valley means it's also close to even more to do. The town is filled with walking paths and bike lanes, as well as shops for those involved in either sport.
There are also two major running events and El Tour de Tucson that pass through the area each year. Every Saturday morning you'll find a farmers market at the main community center, along with various seasonal festivals and celebrations put on by the Greater Oro Valley Council for the Arts. The council puts on such events as the Musical Magic for Kids performances each winter, the Oro Valley Festival of the Arts, the annual Independence Day Celebration, and a commission for public arts.
The land occupied by Saddlebrooke backs well up into the Catalinas, so although more development in the area is possible, it will never be completely surrounded. Homes in SaddleBrooke range from Spanish style garden homes to custom golf course homes, and everything in between. Students living in this area attend Amphitheatre school district.
