This new community north of Marana is one of the fastest growing areas in Greater Tucson. Budding with new developments and amenities, Dove Mountain is home to one of the biggest golf tournaments in the country, the Accenture Match-Play Championship.
Dove Mountain, located north of Tucson off Tangerine road, was first populated by the Hohokam Indians close to 300 B.C. Around 1700 A.D., Spanish missionaries moved in to help "civilize" the Tohono O'odham people, and it was around this time the Tucson area became known. In the 1800s, early settlers began moving in, and about 50 years later, the T-Bench Bar Ranch was founded, which is the land where Dove Mountain sits today. Historical evidence suggests that this is the longest inhabited land in the United States, and with it's dramatic views in the foothills of the Tortolita Mountains, soaring elevations and beautiful scenery, it's not hard to imagine why.
Dove Mountain is a newly developed area mixing modest single-family, Spanish stucco homes with contemporary and Santa Fe-style gated communities and amazing custom homes. As the area grows, a huge amount of development has been planned, including the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, a new upscale supermarket complex, spas, and even a new Ritz-Carlton, the only one in Southern Arizona. Miles of walking trails lace throughout the development, and the bordering natural preserves ensure that it will stay that way for years to come. As if all of that isn't amazing enough, Dove Mountain is home to the the Accenture Match-Play Championship, a tournament played by the top 64 players in the world - a golf fan's dream come true.
